Rish Outfield's reviews
Boy, this movie was awful. Sure, it was Tom Hanks' first film, but A) He
probably isn't proud of it, and B) There was more blood on the POSTER of
Saving Private Ryan. Hanks is only in a couple of scenes, so don't think
it's worth getting just for him. Predictable, slow-moving, unsatisfying,
unrealistic, and...let's see, how about boring? Also, the music in this film,
when not blatantly ripping off the themes to Psycho, Jaws, and, most
brazenly, Halloween, is horrible 1980 synth-disco. James Rebhorn from
Independence Day has a bare-chested role, but that's just between us. This
has to win the prize for "Stupidest-Looking Killer," but again, that's no
reason to watch it.
Best Scare: Boy, I don't know. There was very little to be scared about. I
suppose seeing the severed head in the aquarium. Those poor fish.
I'd Recommend It To: Folks who had rented everything else in the store. Nahh,
then I'd STILL not recommend it.
The tyranist's thoughts
Okay, this is another one that we rented simply because we knew it had a future celebrity in it. Please believe me when I
tell you this movie sucked. While the plot didn't actively rip off any movie, the score ripped off
Psycho and Halloween and the killer was more than a little Bates-ish. I can think
of one possibly legitimate scare, but the rest of the time we can see the killer for about sixteen minutes before he
attempts to strike. Unless you are a die hard Tom Hanks fan, do not see this movie. Even then, he is only in it for about
ten minutes.
