The tyranist's thoughts
I love that title. It's bad and Rish would give it a Skull, but it speaks to me (Hey,
it speaks to me too. I love the title, and the tagline: "The worms are waiting." --Rish).
The movie behind it didn't do much for me though.
Somewhere in the English countryside, a noble is picking up red-headed hookers and
killing them in honor of his late wife. That all ends when he meets a new red-headed
lady and marries her. But his past is still haunting him. And people are still dying.
This has to be part of the Italian Giallo movement. It's the only place it could possibly
fit. Unfortunately, it is not nearly good enough to be compared with some of the masters
of that particular sub-genre.
The acting and dialogue are pretty typical of the period, but the film feels low-budget
and hastily made. The plot makes sense part of the time, and doesn't make any sense
at all the rest of the time. The fact that it also has the stately pace of the Giallo without
any of the actual suspense or execution of potentially terrifying scenes makes it hard to
pay much attention to.
I'm sure this has cult status somewhere, but I didn't care for it at all. I found it dull and
confusing and ultimately unfulfilling. Perhaps you'll have better luck.
