Rish's Reviews
So, when it comes time to haze the diabetic kid, it's not wise to tie him to the evil, supernatural
scarecrow in the cornfield next to the beach. There's lots of conversation and soul-searching
before, during, and after the scarecrow comes to life and begins killing thirty year old
teenagers. But there's still time for a guitar song, don't you worry.
Tyranist and I had never seen any entries in the Scarecrow series. From the
description on the package (which included scenes and characters not in the actual
movie), this one looked like it might be amusing. But it wasn't, really. It was pretty
stupid. It failed in pretty much every way a horror movie can fail. But the budget was
so darn low that the film really couldn't help being as bad as it was. I don't really recall,
but it seems like it had a pretty okay story behind it, but it was so cheaply made that
issues like believability, continuity, and logic were thrown right out the window.
And it could've used some more gore and some more nudity. You know, those two ingredients
sweeten any meal.
I wish I had more to say about this one. Tyranist and I saw it many moons ago, and
since he had nothing to say about it, I can't really be bothered either. Since this was
our introduction to the Scarecrow series, I don't imagine that we'll be seeing the
others anytime soon.

The tyranist's thoughts
This was so long ago that I really only have the faintest recollection of the movie that mostly
seems to involve some flashes of really crappy scenes and a lot of bad dialogue. It's no wonder
that we didn't bother to review it for almost 8 months.
So the premise seemed decent. Scarecrows are terrifying after all. But there was almost
no threat to this scarecrow, and the effects were so bad, I'm shocked this one seems to
have the distribution it has. I guess cheap horror will always be a mainstay at the local rental
shops.
I suppose there might be fans of this series out there, and if there are, we'd love to hear from
them. I'm thinking that about the only way I'll see another entry in this series is if I've seen
nearly everything else in the store. Twice.
