tyranist's Review
Lacking some of the high adventure and punch of the first three novels in the Chronicles, this one is more about growing up and understanding who we are than anything else. There are priceless moments still and following Taran's journey is fun in the same sense as before. Missing here is that sense of wonder. The story becomes a little more real, a little darker, a little more grim. But it builds well to the finale in The High King.
Don't be lost and put off by this one. It is critical to the series even though it may not suit everyone.
