Guthrie spent just under a week in the hospital being
treated for a bone infection, or osteomyeltis.
It began when one day he started limping for no apparent reason and that
evening he had a fever. A toddler with a fever and a limp is a good
indication of a bone infection, they told us. A bone scan confirmed it and he was immediately
hospitalized. It was a scary week, but Guthrie came through quite well,
and now knows words such as "IV," "tylenol," and "stethescope." The most
recent x-rays show good indications of healing so we presume all is going
well. The poor kid was on antibiotics most of the summer.
