Strengthening Families on This Side of the
Veil:
No Empty
Chairs
Quote by
President Ezra Taft
Benson:
"As parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents in Zion, it has been the shared hope of my wife and me that all of us will be together in the eternities--that all will be worthy, without a single empty chair. That is my fervent hope and prayer for each family in the Church."
Ezra
Taft Benson, Ensign, Aug. 1993 (link to entire article)

Idea: Several
families have adopted the
mission statement or motto of "No Empty Chairs" for
their
family. At a wedding supper, the father of the groom spoke
of this family
motto. As a
souvenir of the wedding, there was a small metal chair (about an inch
and a half high) at each place setting. The same idea could be
used at
a family reunion. Many in this family also have different style
plaques in their homes with that motto. Hopefully every time
someone reads it, it will remind them how
precious and important each family member is and how we want each one
to be
with us forever.
