Happiness is Many Things
by Dan Valentine
Happiness is many things...
It's the most sought-after gift in the world.
Happiness...
Some people never know they've had it--until it is gone.
Some people never know happiness...even when it's in their arms.
Happiness is many things...
It can be a heart tug...a small smile...a special glow.
Happiness is odd.
It cannot be bought or borrowed.
It cannot be taught or inherited.
Happiness--despite what the cynics
say--has nothing whatsoever to do
with riches or worldly goods.
Happiness is a gift people give themselves.
One of the surest ways to achieve
happiness--is to make other people
happy.
Happiness is made up of many things...like
kindness and trust and
patience and love...and faith
and honor.
Happiness is fragile. It's like a moonbeam. Held too tight it disappears.
Happiness can't be hoarded.
It can't be saved. It must be used fresh
each day.
It can't be rationed--or saved for tomorrow.
Happiness is hope...and loving someone and being loved...
Happiness is little things...like a beam of sunlight, a snowflake...
Happiness is a smile from a small daughter...a grin from a son...
Happiness is:
A fresh morning...a summer rainbow...
A nod from a stranger...
A smile from a friend.
Happiness is doing something extra well...or overcoming an obstacle.
Happiness is a secret sort of thing. It's all wrapped up inside a person.
Happiness is respecting yourself as a human being...
Happiness is looking at life in a friendly way...
The gifts of happiness are many:
A clear conscience when you go to bed a night...
Built-in courage to meet a new tomorrow...
Happiness is work you enjoy...an
eye for beauty...a heart that
feels...and a mind that questions...
Happiness is to have the gift
of life...to know that you are wanted and
needed and loved in your own
private part of the world...
Happiness is elusive. If
you look for it, it disappears...
Happiness is a mood, an attitude.
Happiness is wearing a little stardust around the edges of your heart...
Happiness is taking time out from
the everyday routine of the
world--to spend a few minutes
now and then sitting on a rainbow.
One nice thing about happiness is it's contagious.
A little spark of it will fall from one person to another.
Soon there will be an epidemic.
Happiness is strange.
The more of it you give away--the
more of it your have for yourself.
