SOUTHINGTON -- Maydene Ruth Potrepka, 85, formerly of Carter Lane, Plantsville, died Monday, June21, 2004 at the Orchards at Southington. She was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, the late Frank Vincent Potrepka.

Born Sept. 17, 1918 in Beaver Crossing, Neb., she was the daughter of the late Mark and Melba Whitnah. She was a communicant of Immaculate Conception Church in Southington. As a graduate from the University of Nebraska in 1939 with a bachelor degree in business, she worked as a bookkeeper for the family businesses, Plantsville Pharmacy and Lynch Drug Company for 58 years. Mrs. Potrepka was a charter member of the Immaculata Women's Club and held various offices over the years. She was a member of the Southington Council of Catholic Women and Church Women United. She volunteered numerous hours of her time to the Bradley Memorial Hospital Gift Shop. She was an active participant in Southington YMCA Aquafit program and was honored by the YMCA as an 80 and over member.

Friends and family may call at the Plantsville Memorial Funeral Home 975 South Main Street, Plantsville on Thursday, June 24, from 4 to 8 p.m. The funeral procession will be from the funeral home on Friday, June 25, at 9:15am followed by a mass at the Immaculate Conception Church, Summer St., Southington at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, South End Road, Plantsville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Central Connecticut, 40 East Street, Plainville, CT 06062.
