This flaming Tulip at Temple Square
Drew me in a bit closer
A perfect blend of Yellow, Red and Black
Ogden Temple
The Bronze Evening Primrose (at Capitol Reef
National Park)
is typically a deep yellow while open but the night
before a nocturnal moth pollinated this one
and it is in the process of dying as it fades to pink
Harriman's Yucca (at Capitol Reef)
is hard to miss as its stalks shoot straight up
Many had an atypical brown/purplish coloration
on the backs of the sepals. It is usually a
creamy yellow.
Nuttall's Pincushion Cactus
at Capitol Reef
is a wonderful treat and it sometimes
requires getting low to the ground to find these
as they may only be barely above ground and only
come out in the warmth of the mid-day and afternoon
Prickly Pear Cactus never looked so good
Sardine Canyon, Box Elder County
Along Mormon Row at sunrise
down the Antelope Flats turn off are a couple of
photogenic spots (this is one of them) that were
settled by Mormon homesteaders in 1890s
Grand Teton National Park
You might think that this is a close up of a
dragonfly,
however I was not that close being about 3 meters away
at the time and had to work quickly as these insects
rarely linger.
I just cropped the large image on this small
part of the frame which makes it look like I was 15 cm
away
North Ogden Divide
Woods' Rose
I had to wait a couple of hours for the rain storms
to clear and was rewarded with subjects like this one
Tony Grove area
Logan Canyon
The Monument Plant
gets its name from is large stature of a meter or more
that shoots up not unlike the Washington Monument, but
also as a monument of its endurance having survived
for
perhaps decades in the ground before blooming a single
time
and then dying, which is why you may see it one place
and
perhaps never again in that same spot.
Tony Grove area, Logan Canyon
Engelmann's aster
Tony Grove
Past Peak Color
Logan Canyon
I think I drove around for 3-4 hours in Logan Canyon
seeking a bit of color. I think I found only a
handful of
trees with leaves still clinging on them
