Goldbud Farms, home of the biggest and best Cherries, Peaches, Nectarines, Plums, Pears and Apples that we have ever seen. Goldbud calls it the WOW! factor. Their fruit is grown at 2,800 ft. in rich volcanic soil, near Placerville in Eldorado County. At this elevation, Goldbud's fruit proceed through its life functions s-l-o-w-l-y. Hot mountain days encourage growth, but every night, cool air slows growth down so the fruit can rest. By the time Goldbud's fruit is mature, it has grown to a size impossible to achieve when fruit grows fast. Each piece of fruit is agriculturally "hand-crafted." Imaginative pruning forces large size and quality. Airy branches treat developing fruit to generous helpings of sunlight. Blossoms and branches are sacrificed, leaving just enough fruit to grow large and uncompetitively all over the tree. Every Goldbud apple, plum, pear, peach, nectarine and cherry--is picked by hand. Hands gently pack the fruit in boxes in perfect rows based on size, like in the old days. Goldbud's fruit is shipped all over the country to top restaurants and stores. Within one day of harvest at perfect maturity, you can buy and eat Goldbud's fruit. Once their cherries, peaches nectarines and plums are off the tree, you've got THREE days to enjoy this magnificent fruit at the peak of ripeness. The Goldbud Philosophy Ron Mansfield is the grower behind Goldbud Farms'superior quality. He farms not only with his heart, but with his head. With a degree in Renewable Natural Resources from the University of California at Davis, he practices a farming style that is contemporary and sensitive to the environment while being respectful of historical farming goals. Mansfield believes fruit should be picked ripe and enjoyed as close to the moment of picking as possible. To maintain quality and craftsmanship, Mansfield and his family decided to avoid volume production. For Mansfield, there's no better compliment than to say that his is the best fruit you've ever had. |
