Tang Chinese Steppe Falconer at Court

A Twilight of Empires

Lords of the Earth, Campaign 13

Project Degradation

For reference please see (Sects. 2.10.4 and 6.1).

Not Paying Project Support

So what happens when you decide that your nation cannot support all or part of its megalithic projects? The rulesbook merely states that bad things will happen. Well, here they are.

The Consequences

A d10 is rolled each turn for each project which is not supported. On a 1 (one) result, the project degrades by one level. This means that Royal Roads become Postal Roads, Postal Roads disappear, and cultivated regions revert to their original state, e.g. wilderness, steppe, etc.

Special megaliths may degrade more slowly based on arguments by the player. For example a replica of Cheop's pyramid would probably stay in reasonable shape for quite some time with no support whatsoever.

As always, player feedback is welcome.
