Lone Peak 2025
Hong asked me to organize a WMC hike to Lone Peak, since she'd never been there before. I was happy to do it — I'd been to the top a couple of times, and it's a spectacularly beautiful hike. (Well, I almost summited those times; I couldn't make myself cross the knife-edge!)
Seven people showed up for the hike. I was very slow, and Hong and I only made it to the cirque. I bonked badly in the heat on the new switchbacks on Jacob's Ladder. The weather was a bit iffy too, with thunder audible and showers visible to the west. In spite of that, half the group summited. It's still a gorgeous spot. Hong and I will try again next year!
Many thanks to our fine group: Greg Clark, Eve Kovacs, Mike Nelson, Thomas Fu, Charles Thomasset, Julie Jalalpour and Hong Duong.
