Goin' Away

"Goin' Away" was written for somebody I knew lately. I don't want to say any more about this group of songs, except to say this. It's a shame and it's very sad that the only songs we hear being written about people in love are sad songs, songs of parting, songs of the anguish and the remorse and the abrasion that takes place between people who are trying to live together and know each other and become friends.
When people are happy, they don't write songs about being in love. I wish that they would. I wish that we had songs about being in love to sing that were all the good things. Just to sing them so we could show ourselves that love is possible. I think we need some songs like that. I haven't been been to write them. Maybe someday I will.

Is that the sun coming up on the eastern shore,
Or just the coal bed glow behind the firebox door?
I know she's gone, whatever I say,
But it won't be long 'til I make up my mind
And go away.
(bridge)

Other storms may blow and the wind may rise,
Still I long to go where the fast mail flies.
I know she's gone, whatever I say,
But it won't be long 'til I make up my mind
And go away.
(repeat bridge and last verse)
