Excellent Cat Sites

Please be aware that each site offers more than what I have highlighted, so you should explore each one.  They are not grouped or ranked in any order.
No More Homeless Pets in Utah Do you live in Utah?  Please visit No More Homeless Pets in Utah.  The efforts of these people truly make me proud to live in Utah!  You'll find much more than homeless cats and dogs to adopt: if you already have a pet, you'll find a wealth of options for having your pet spayed/neutered and vaccinated at a very low cost (a coupon you can print out to save $20 at participating vets, a mobile clinic, plus more!).
TopCat Sisal Scratching Post I have found THE best scratching post!  It's made out of rough sisal "fabric" (NOT the rope, a weave!).  It's tall (29 inches), doesn't fall over, doesn't wobble, and doesn't slide across the floor.  And, of course, the best part:  all the cats love it.  It's called the TopCat Sisal Scratching Post.
Pawprints and Purrs You will find LOTS of feline related material, including health FAQs, the Lore of the Cat series, cat adoption and sponsoring, and lots more. This is a very professionally designed website.
Diabella Loves Cats This website offers a wide variety of all-things-cat:  cat rescue information, animal welfare, and all around excellent entertainment.
A Wealth of Resources Pawprints and Purrs has created this excellent resource of URLs to sites that offer specific cat-related topics.  Categories in this huge undertaking of the "best of the best" on the web include: Responsible Ownership; Feline Pregnancy, Birth, and Kitten Care; Cat Behavior; Basic Cat Care 101; Older Cats' Care; Feline Conditions and Diseases; Feline Nutrition; Feral Cats and Caretaking; Pet Safety; Pet Travel; Animal Care Hotlines; Convalescence, Medications, and Treatments; and Pet Loss. This is definitely a page to bookmark!
Best Friends The mission of Best Friends is to help bring about a time when there are no more homeless pets, and when every cat or dog who's ever born can be guaranteed a good home with a loving family. This is a HUGE, wonderfully entertaining and informative site located in my own state of Utah (Best Friends has launched a five-year program to bring an end to the killing of homeless animals in our home state of Utah. The blueprint of the program also serves as a model for other communities and states.)
Lisaviolet's Cathouse
Lisaviolet's Cathouse is an excellent resource for information about declawing.  You'll also find stories, pictures, music, humor, trivia, the rainbow bridge, helpful information and much, much more for your viewing pleasure
Moggies Moggies provides a plethora of things-feline. The Cat Guide covers a zillion cat care topics, and that's just a "small" part of the site.  Plan to spend a looooong time at this site, you'll love it.
The Pet Loss Grief Support Website If a beloved pet has crossed over the Rainbow Bridge, you'll want to visit this site.  Here you will find personal  support, thoughtful advice, The Pets Candle Ceremony, Tribute Pages, healing poetry, and much more
Veterinary Information for Cat Owners An excellent resource, this site provides, for free, a comprehensiven alphabetical index of questions and answers to cat health information, as well as an encyclopedia of feline veterinary medical information.  The site is authored by veterinarian Michael Richards.  The site is no longer being updated, but the information continues to be very helpful.
Cat Cartoon Sites
Cat WebCams
If watching your own cat(s) isn't enough to satisfy you, you can go watch somebody else's.

  • lisaviolet's cats (there's a good chance of seeing a cat - she has a "few")
  • Erik Max Francis's kitchen (that's where the food and water dishes are)
  • The Cat Food Dish Cam in Amsterdam
  • Or, if you just want to spend the day (or night) looking at places, offices, people, animals, and a number of other things in the world, visit EarthCam
The Cats' House You may have seen the book on the shelves - now visit the website.  They have brought new meaning to the term "cat walk"!
Soft Paws Soft Paws are an excellent alternative to declawing. Developed by Dr. Christianne Schelling, DVM, Soft Paws are vinyl nail caps that are glued on to your cat's existing nails. They look like a cat's nail, only hollow. They are easy to apply at home, and cats and their owners love them. They are completely safe and humane and can be used on cats of all ages.
Cat of the Day "Every day we present a new pet photo and story to try to illustrate how animals enrich the lives of people around the world."  Fill out the nomination form, and your cat may be featured one day.  This is a very nice site, and the presentation of the Cat of the Day is very well done.
Take Your Pet This site provides lists of pet-friendly lodging and a newsletter.  Note that many hotels accepts pets under emergency conditions, such as floods or earthquakes, so don't abandon your pets if you have to abandon your home.

Hilary Renaissance, Animal Communicator
Hilary "facilitates the conversation between you and your animal friend so you can learn more about each other.  The communication is based on questions you have regarding the animal's health, behaviors, personality or what ever else you want to know. Each animal, like each human, has a unique perspective and wisdom to share with us. If given the opportunity, our animal friends can teach us a great deal."  Read about our wonderful experience with Hilary on Tuxedo's page.
Emergency/disaster preparedness

Pet Airways Pet Airways is a pet-only airline where pets fly in the main cabin, not in cargo. The folks at Pet Airways believe that travel for your best friend should be a comfortable, safe and pleasant experience. Pawsengers fly in specially equipped planes that are climate controlled for their comfort, and always under the watchful eye of a trained Pet Attendant. Find more information at PetAirways.com.
AllPosters Cat posters and prints:  If you don't have enough cats gracing your living room, put some on the walls!  AllPosters has a huge assortment of posters and prints, at very reasonable prices. As of this writing, there are over 2,500 posters/prints just of cats.
eBay.com One of the best shopping places is the online auction house eBay.  It's sort of a huge flea market, with items being sold by people all around the world.  At any given time, there are hard-to-find cat collectibles, cat supplies, original and reproduction paintings of cats, and a whole lot more.  You need to register (it's free) and read the guidelines, then either use the search engine or look in some of the categories such as Collectibles:Cats or Feline Supplies.  If you've purchased the 100 Mainzer dressed cat postcards, look through the Animal Postcards category for more.  On VERY rare occasions, you'll find me selling something there as well.

Other Cat-Themed Sites Note:  You can add your own cat-themed site to the list.    Please add only the TITLE of your site, NOT a description.  Non-cat or inappropriate sites will be removed.
