Ann Barker was married (in Wakefield Parish Church, 24 February 1846) to Hiram Horsfall (born around 1819) who, although born in Halifax, Yorkshire, was a hill farmer with his father Abraham near Colne in Lancashire. Some time after the marriage, the couple moved to Whitworth near Rochdale, Lancs where, again, Hiram was farming. In 1852, at a very young age, Hiram died, leaving Ann with four children: Thomas (b. 1846); Frederick Matthew, my great grandfather (b. 1849); Mariah Hannah (b.1850); lastly, Hiram (jr) who was born soon after his father's death, and was obviously named in his memory.

Ann Barker was born in 1818 (not 1820 as you mention: she was christened 13 September 1818) in Badsworth, Yorkshire. She was the daughter of William Barker, farmer and Maria, or Marie Child (born 1791, Badsworth).
