Perhaps the reason that "Six Thinking Hats" has not influenced American
Curriculum and Education is because of Benjamin's Bloom's Taxonomy.
Since 1956 this taxonomy has guided educational thinking and other
methods have not dislodged Benjamin Bloom's research of thinking.
Bloom's Taxonomy was apparently published in the 1950's time frame by 
Benjamin Bloom.
What follows is a discussion by James N. Hall author of FUTURLOGICS a system
of prospective thinking.
Bloom's Taxonomy is a ranking or listing of mental operations according to the level
of abstraction that these echelons or six divisions will take in the learning
process.  They are ranked in order of lower to the higher or highest as follows:  
BLOOM'S TAXONOMY of thinking

                        Evaluation (highest)
Bloom's Taxonomy was a means of expressing qualitatively different kinds of
thinking. Bloom's Taxonomy has been adapted for classroom use as a planning 
tool and is a universally applied model in schooling and in Academia.
A former student of Benjamin Bloom, Lorin Anderson, has attempted to revise 
Bloom's Taxonomy during the 1990's,  changing the six levels as follows:

comment: Biblical arrangement of knowledge,wisdom and understanding is of note.

These taxonomies will alter order according to TIME PHASE of the knowledge.

Education perpetuates the past. It less frequently observes the ongoing. It
seldom addresses the future.
But imagine that the object of the thinking in Education is research for 
contributing to field of knowledge or novel knowledge, then the order of 
Bloom's Taxonomy will be thus:

Analysis        ###(Trace out current position or conditions)
Synthesis       ###(Create or organize toward contributing new or revolutionary 
                    discovery)
Comprehension   ###(Explain it to others by presentation)

The point is the order is changed according to the purpose and direction
and time orientation of the Educational pursuit.
If the purpose is research then the acquisition of knowledge is the goal
not the beginning .

                     uses memory to project to the future.
observational cycle: observational mode, observational model, Natural future
                     uses senses to project to the future.
    Imaginary cycle: imaginary mode, imaginary model, imaginary future
                     uses imagination to project to the future.
   Assumptive cycle: Assumptive mode, Assumptive model, Assumptive future
                     uses assumptions to project/manipulate concept of the 
                     future.
     Creative cycle: Creative mode, Creative model, Synthetic Future
                     uses creativity to prepare,plan,schedule,wait for the 
                     future.
  Prospective cycle: Prospective mode, Prospective model, Paradigm future
                     models foreknowledge  for further prescience of the 
                     future.
The study of the future develops advanced thinking methods and models.
The principles of Prediction, Waiting(Scheduling),Preparation,Planning are improved by Futurlogics and visa versa.
Models are the product of Inductive logic
Modals are the product of Deductive logic
DMP is a dual acronym for (D)irect (M)ind (P)erception and (D)irect (M)ental (P)rocess at once.
DMP is the product of the compound of Inductive and Deductive logic
DMP is true parallel thinking or Holistic Thinking.

Futurlogics
is a Thinking System and a Method of Research using  the minds 
reaction to the future.
 This is the system of research used to 
investigate the unknown by developing the natural intuition in 
 all of us.  
History as a point of reference for charting the course 
ahead is obsolete. 
 Soon absolutes will become mere variables.
 New 
tools are needed  to prepare for the times ahead. 
Futurlogics is an expanding spiral of thought to organize and systematize all the principles of thinking future through DMP.
Predicting, preparing, and planning with the understanding gained through reading this handbook will liberate the mind to think as it should.
