LETHAL WEAPON 4

Stars: Mel Gibson, Danny Glover, Joe Pesci, Chris Rock, Rene Russo. Written by Channing Gibson. Directed by Richard Donner. Rated R for violence, profanity, adult themes.

Police sergeants Riggs (Mel Gibson) and Murtaugh (Danny Glover) are each given promotions to the rank of captain to keep them off the street because they have a habit of causing expensive destruction in the line of duty. But trouble is still able to find them as stumble onto a slave smuggling operation operating out of Asia, which places them, and their families, in a very dangerous situation.

Frankly, I’ve never understood the appeal of the "Lethal Weapon" franchise. With the persistent glut of action cop flicks, the amusing banter of Gibson and Glover isn’t enough to truly distinguish these movies from the myriad of others. However, with this particular sequel, the action has been turned up to fever pitch with the boys finding themselves up against martial arts experts. This at least serves to hold ones attention although the end results are no more satisfying than the previous three films. So if you’re already a fan of the series, go for it. Otherwise, your money is better spent elsewhere.
