QUOTE OF THE DAY "Squeal like a pig!!!" -Deliverance
WORLD O' WEIRD MOVIE FACTS: Find the bogus movie fact and win a date with Shug Avery
  • According to a PEOPLE magazine article, Sharon Stone behaved like such a primadonna on the 1986 film ALLAN QUARTERMAIN AND THE LOST CITY OF GOLD, crew members sought revenge by secretly pissing in the water prior to shooting her bathtub scene.

  • In the 1990 England gangster film THE KRAYS, twin brothers Gary and Martin Kemp from the 80's new romantic Duran Duranish group Spandau Ballet ("True") make their acting debut (and I believe swansong.)

Other films that star or have cameos of 80's/90's music stars include:

  • Shirley Hemphill of "What's Happenin'" fame was the original choice for the lead role in Stanley Kubrick's LOLITA.

  • Texas wacko/necro Ed Gein who among other things dug up bodies in cemeteries, and made interesting home furnishings from the parts was the driving inspiration for a film called DERRANGED, which featured the tag line, "Pretty Sally Mae died an unnatural death, but the worst hasn't happened to her yet!" PSYCHO and THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE also owe influence credit to Mr Gein.

SPECIAL FILM GIMMICKS SECTION! Check out these keen film gimmicks that were used to promote certain films.

    EMERGO
In 1958, THE HOUSE ON HAUNTED HILL, starring Vincent Price was released and hyped using the extra spooky "Emergo" process which a glow in the dark skeleton was lowered over extra scared moviegoers during key scenes.

    SENSURROUND
In some theaters, EARTHQUAKE and JAWS were released in senses shattering SENSURROUND which basically was extra loud speakers with heavy bass that made you feel like the theater was coming alive with action. In 1979, the BATTLESTAR GALLACTICA TV film, was out in theaters boasting the same effect.

    GHOST-VISION
In the 50's, a film called 13 GHOSTS, a haunted house movie, featured a twist on 3-D glasses, which allowed moviegoers to see the ghosts on the screen, only when the glasses were worn. Take them off, and they disappeared. The video version, shows the ghosts without having to use these glasses, however. NO ENTRY FINAL 15 MINUTES OF FILM
What the hell was this about? Many spook and psycho movies were billed in newspaper ads as "Due to the shocking nature of this film, no one will be admitted during the last 15 minutes!" What damage was this going to cause, anyway?

    4) You will believe a man can fly

    6) Love Never Dies

WEIRD VIDEO PICK OF THE DAY: THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE, PART 2

If you're not a big fan of this genre, don't be scared, this film is quite funny and defintely worth a try. Dennis Hopper is truly amazing as an obsessed sheriff who's out to bring the crazy family down, you'll laugh like crazy seeing him ready for the final showdown with Leaterface wearing two minichainsaws in specially made holsters. Lot's o fun with one of the craziest families in film history. While you're at it, watch MOTEL HELL, a perfect companion piece.
