ROBERT BERRY'S
WEIRD MOVIE STUFF #2

This stuff is so crazy, it just might work!

MOVIE QUOTE OF THE DAY (not quite verbatim, but close)
"I could be like a character actor, you know stuff like DeNiro or Pacino,
real hard-on type characters, but I could never play like one of those
three guys who get stuck watching some baby for a weekend."
-John Travolta as "Chili Palmer" in GET SHORTY

AMAZING MOVIE FACTS

  1. The night scene with the boat in Spielberg's JAWS features several real shooting stars courtesy of Mother Nature, not ILM.

  2. There's a split second frame insert of a demonic face as Father Karras runs out the subway exit in THE EXORCIST.
  3. The original Tin-Man in THE WIZARD OF OZ...Buddy Ebsen, who later had to leave the project, after developing a highly allergic reaction to the silver make-up.

  4. Check out HEART OF DARKNESS the documentary about the making of APOCALYPSE NOW to learn that the opening scene with Martin Sheen (hey that rhymes!) drunk as hell was so convincing because, he really was drunk as hell. When he goes on to rant and rave in front of his mirror and cut his hand on a broken piece of it, it's all real.

  5. Before SNOW WHITE AND THE SEVEN DWARFS was released, a faithful version of Edgar Rice Burroughs' JOHN CARTER: WARLORD OF MARS was going to beat it to the punch as the first full length full color animated film ever, only to be hopelessly postponed forever as a freak fire destroyed nearly all of the studio and product.

Secret Video Treasure Recommendation of the Day

"TED and VENUS" Starring Bud Cort (of Harold & Maude fame)
-------------------------------------------------------------------
This one's a toughie to find, but well worth it. Bud Cort plays a crazy barfly-like poet who goes to open mike reading and finds this kick-ass gorgeous girl of his dreams. She befriends him slightly at first, only to discover how obsessed he has become, and he'll stop at nothing to be her man. For some bizarre reason, Woody Harrelson, Rhea Perlman, and James Brolin have well used cameos. It's good dumb fun, that will have you laughing for sure.
