MOVIE QUOTE OF THE DAY:

"Y'know, you haven't stopped talking since I came here?
You must have been vaccinated with a phonograph needle!"
                -Groucho Marx in DUCK SOUP

WEIRD MOVIE FACTS O' THE DAY
(find the bogus fact and win a lap-dance from Shelly Winters)

  • Jamie Lee Curtis revealed on a long ago ARSEnio that the budget for her film debut, John Carpenter's HALLOWEEN was so low, that they couldn't afford to get an elaborate mask design for the character for Michael Meyers, so they went to a local store and saw that a couple of Captain Kirk STAR TREK costumes were on sale. The masks were simply painted white and fake hair put on top. This of course, is not the first time William Shatner has had dealings with fake hair.

  • John Carpenter not only directed HALLOWEEN, but also composed and performed the film score as well.

  • Not only is Groucho Marx's mustache painted on in DUCK SOUP, but the rare director's cut of the film reveals his exaggerated pubic hair is also a make-up fake as well.

  • Cindy Crawford said during nude scenes in FAIR GAME, she wore a small patch between her legs, so she wouldn't be completely nude. By the way, the rumor that Mr. Baldwin would tape his script there, too, to keep from forgetting his lines, is completely false.

    VIDEO REVIEW O' THE DAY

HUGH HEFNER: ONCE UPON A TIME- Produced by David Lynch/Mark Frost As the back of the box reads, "Imagine Orson Welles' CITIZEN KANE by way of Madonna's TRUTH OR DARE and you have a sense of HUGH HEFNER: ONCE UPON A TIME."

This is a great documentary narrated by James Coburn that dissects the American legend of Hugh Hefner. From his early days to present, the many fascinating and scandalous aspects of Hefner's life are covered very objectively by interviewing friends, enemies, and accomplices.

Some great, and sad, flashbacks to the slain Dorothy Stratten tragedy, and efforts by the government to shut Hefner down show how resilient a character he is. A truly different type of success story, ONCE UPON A TIME is certainly worth checking out. The old footage of the Playboy Mansion's early days, and comments from former contributors, guests, and stars, make this a truly special tape.

Note: I've had a really tough time finding a rental copy of this,
so I had to end up buying it, but it's well worth the search.
