Saturday April 20th 1428 Imperial Calendar
Morning announced itself through the great stained glass window. As if on cue, Enzo began to glow. A low droning sound began to emanate from the amulet around his neck. Within minutes the light and sound were nearly unbearable. Hiding or moving unnoticed would be impossible under these conditions. The only explanation for the cacaphony came is whispered serpents tongue for the amulet Wyrm. “You have been deemed unworthy, let the game begin.” With that the group moved to the upper gallery to reclaim Corman’s horse and take up a defensible position in the Madrigala chambers. Creatures of all types were drawn to the orb. Celeste and Enzo took up positions at the two entry points to the room. Soon the first of the denizens of this infested hall started to arrive. At the back of the room Casper was sifting through the magic items the party had claimed over the last few weeks. Seeing the fighters had things well in hand he proceeded to reveal the secrets of the collection of magic.
After several waves of creatures had been vanquished Enzo took the opportunity during a lull in the fighting to put pen to paper. Choosing his words carefully he scrawled the conditions of the wish he had earned in service of the orb. The conditions of the ceremony required the blood of a living donor to adorn the paper. Seeking the aid of his comrade Enzo enlisted Calais’ cooperation in enabling the wish. With the blood donated Enzo committed the wish by setting it ablaze and sending it to the infernal regions for complicity.
Shortly thereafter Lilith heeded hear earlier beckoning by Enzo. Her arrival was proceeded by her insidious alluring presence. Under instruction from Enzo she was entrusted with disposing of Wyrm to a remote place where it would be innocuous for a lengthy period of time. Taking the bane with her to regions unknown, she and the klaxons and lights were gone.
The abbey still moaned with awakened creatures. Making haste the party sought to reach the ground level and thereby achieve the remains of St. Catherine. Descending the grand staircase they arrived a a sundered doorway. Lilith or a facsimile of her wander forth from the rift. Calais’ suspicion was peaked and she soon withdrew before things turned violent. Celeste commented that the fraud always approached them from a distance where the real Lilith appeared in Enzo’s vicinity. Satisfied that they repelled an impostor they continued.
Beyond the doors lay a rift to dark regions of the underworld. Track on the floor indicated the recent passing of a large company of Fey. Considering the corpse of the Drow they found earlier it was likely to be a group of dark elves. Their considerable numbers were off-putting. It was decided to avoid the main gallery and find a way around the Drow. Once the base of the stairs was reached the front door could bee seen. Smoke climbed from the doors as the ram continued to assail the warded barrier. Calais took the opportunity to taunt the Scaven attending the ram. Hoping to lure out their commander Eric Venns. After a brief pause to investigate Calis’ activities the thunderous noise resumed as the ram set about it’s destructive enterprise.
Behind Calais the party observed a massive bell. Trussed in a massive wooden and steel framework the bell was undeniably awesome. An aura of calming bliss emanated from it. Do to is proximity in the main hall to the tracks from the Drow, it was avoided in favor of a small door. Beyond the door was discovered an ancient drawing room. Rows of desks filled the rooms beyond. Further inside a library concealed a hidden door detected by Silverhawk’s highly attuned senses. A Great spider and a company of smaller ones stood between them and the door. Casper eschewed the possibility of using fire to clear the are due to the loss of literature. Drawing a deep breath propelled by magic a great shout shattered the organs of the arachnids throughout the chamber. Mouse in the interim had found and cleared a secret library with banned books and sacred tomes hidden within. No doubt the source of much debate if they reached common circulation. |
