Here are the trailer tow kit instructions that came with my truck.

The boost feature was a nice surprise when traveling down dirt roads. The 2 position boost setting increased initial voltage to the trailer brakes when applying the truck brakes - Setting 1 incresed voltage by 12.5% over "Normal" setting, Setting 2 by 25%. This allowed me to travel faster on the smooth sections of the dirt road and slow down quicker on the rough spots. Then turn the boost off when returning to pavement

The pigtail adapter (truck brand specific) made the connections between the Prodigy and the truck's brake controller connector quite easy - even for me! This light blue connector is located on top, left side of my steering column (equipt with towing package).

This has been a good mounting spot for me. I can see it fairly well (thru the steering wheel spokes), and it is in good reach. It is not in my way, and the wires fold up underneath the dash when not in use.
