Hi Katherine,
After reading all the contributions (what a great idea, BTW, wonder =
how long it will take some writer at IBD to steal it??), thought I would =
wade in with a few more (hey IBD, I give you these for free this time, =
but how about at least occasionally crediting this group for all your =
creative thinking??)
verbs like "will, should, can, expect"
ratings from major wirehouses like "reduce" at the same time as they =
maintain a "hold" (how do you do one without contradicting the other?)
ratings upgrades from major wirehouses like "raised to a strong buy =
from a buy" - does this mean you buy more, or buy faster, or just keep =
buying, or just yell louder at your broker to hurry up and buy?
"maybe you should handle my - - - account" (heard at work too often =
after someone asks me about how I am doing, and I stupidly answer them =
honestly - strikes fear in my heart
"I don't care what the market thinks, I like the fundamentals"
"will announce tomorrow" - often used in much of the investment =
related spam I get daily, and send on to the SEC daily
so and so was buying such and such at a ridiculous price, and now it's =
a gazillion dollars higher, and they will be buying this latest hot idea =
once they hear about what I am telling only you with this spam email =
sent to several hundred million email addresses that didn't want it in =
the first place (ok, so that's not exactly how the spam is worded, just =
my interpretation - also sent daily to the SEC)
"Worley likes it" - oh, sh-t, I opened my mouth again, once too often

I have been compiling a list of what I call "dangerous" words. Words =
that indicate emotion is overtaking rational expectations and decision =
making. Would you all be willing to add to the list?
Incredible
Unbelievable
Go XXXX, Go
Should (pretty much in any context)
Have you bought XXXX? (Heard for the third time in 2 days)
Everyone should have this in their portfolio (usually heard on CNBC)
This stock is on fire (always heard on CNBC)
Should I buy XXXX? (Heard from your plumber)
The Fed is no longer important
It can't lose
It's a perfect stock
It's a perfect company
Katherine
