They are fine if you don't have any disputes with them, but they will do absolutely nothing to help you if you do. I had a trade dispute with them about 18 months ago, and finally received a several thousand dollar credit from them. However, I was only able to accomplish this because I used to work at Merrill Lynch, and was familiar with how their trading operations functioned. Without the background to press my case, I would have been summarily denied restitution, which was the tactic they employed initially with me. I have heard similar complaints from several other sources. I now trade with Schwab, and am quite satisfied with their services. This is one of those times where having a different broker has its advantages. There should be no reason that your ET should require a sell limit order for shorting. You should be able to sell short at market. Only one quick uptick this morning so far at 9:40EST, so if the shares were available you (theoretically) would have been able to get a fill. Do I have to put in a sell limit? I know there has to be an uptick, so the sell will take place. Something else to know?
