Scott:

This Ask WON for Mon. 2/11 might be of relevance to the counting of
up/down days (WON uses weeks when volume is heavier than normal. But I
imagine it also applies to days-something shorter term investors could be
interested in). My observation is that even on down days volume last week
has not been above the 50 day average for volume.

"'How important is it for a stock to close in the upper half of each week's
price range? " - Submitted from Washington, D.C. Rather than looking
for this, you should focus on the base and make sure it has the right
characteristics. Some of the key factors: 1) It should be at least seven
weeks long, and 2) be generally tight in price action. 3) If the base has a
handle, volume should be light during its formation. 4) The handle should
form in the upper half of the overall base pattern and slant downward. On
weeks of heavy volume, the "up" weeks should outnumber the "down" weeks"

your observation of two down days to one up day on heavy volume.

4 consecutive days of high volume on 12/13 - 12/18 - start of uptrend

since then 2 up days, 2 down days as i would see it
other days are right around average volume
