Welcome, Mona, I will have to give some thought to your perspective on packaging, interesting. My congrats on being brave enough to buy anything on 9/20. But I must agree, selling rules are far more important than buying rules. My partner saw a reference to the list in Forbes. I've been lurking for a while and have read many of your messages via the archive. I've previously tried various message boards where canslim was supposed to be the topic, but much of it is get-rich-quick thinking. I don't expect to double my money next week, but using IBD I hope to reduce my risk and protect my gains far better. I own a small Internet / technology consulting company near Seattle Washington, but have recently moved to Washington DC. [More of a move back actually, as we'd lived in northern VA for almost 10 years before the move out west.] After 10 years or so of relying on 'professionals' to manage our investments, we realized we needed to be much more hands-on if we really wanted to retire someday. I discovered WON, IBD and CanSlim late last year after I bought stocks 9/20. While I am definitely sold on the approach, I am still paying tuition on the learning curve of things. I wish I'd learned the selling rules years earlier. I have never had a broker call and suggest selling -- either b/c of a downtrend, market trend, or to lock in gains. I am finding that learning to sell is much harder than learning to buy. Personally I now see the old 'buy and hold' as a 'buy and die' money-losing proposition. My investing toolset at the moment: - -- IBD, of course - -- Daily Graphs Online (am loving the beta) - -- Merrill Lynch Advantage (full service broker) with a flat annual fee, no commissions on trades, proprietary research as well as S&P, etc - -- money.net for streaming realtime quotes - -- CNBC for tracking portfolio as well as easy news alerts I agree with someone recently (Charles?) that some new leaders will likely come from the financial group because money is cheap, I'm also keeping an eye on things like packaging and container companies b/c packaging and getting it there will also be important to any recovery no matter which sectors leads it. - --m ======================================================= (253)983-1531 (voice) Design21 Internet Solutions (877)576-6172 (toll-free fax) Mona Guarino webmaster@design21.com 10209 Bridgeport Way SW http://www.design21.com/ Lakewood, WA 98499 ======================================================= - - - -To subscribe/unsubscribe, email "majordomo@xmission.com" - -In the email body, write "subscribe canslim" or - -"unsubscribe canslim".
