Steve, I didn't remember seeing WON wisdom on this in either HTMMIS or the 24 Lessons book. I went to the AskIBD site and asked "should I buy a stock ahead of earnings announcements?" First answer was: "When a stock goes through its pivot (buy) point, that's the best time to buy it, regardless of when earnings will be announced. There's always a risk that a disappointing earnings report will take your stock down. But if a stock breaks out and you decide to wait, you could be missing out on a solid gain. Remember, a breakout (crossing the pivot point) on heavy volume affords a strong probability that the stock will advance. Of course, earnings announcements are something you should keep an eye on." BTW, I find www.askibd.com a useful tool for reviewing concepts as well a quick way to get an answer on canslim details. > > Recently bought PPDI, > > Yesterday they announced that earnings will be > announced after the close April 17, including a > webcast, a conference call, etc. etc. > > What is the prevailing wisdom?
