Hi Bill,

I'm quite stringent in candidate selection, but strangely enough pay =
little attention to the EPS ranking as a selection criteria. So, the =
EPS=3D76 would not be problematic on its own. There are several things =
that keep JDAS out of the short list for me:

1-ROE--much too low at 7%. I will give a stock the benefit of the doubt =
on this when all the other evidence weighs in, but JDAS has a history of =
erratic earnings and so far, hasn't shown the ability to consistently =
grow them for long periods of time. Also, the 7% places them much lower =
than many better candidates in the same industry.
2-Forward growth rate--until only recently, the forward growth rate has =
been in a steady decline since it peaked in Oct. 2000. Just this week, =
it meets my minimum forward growth requirements of 15%, so that means it =
gets my attention again.
3--Because its past profitability (as expressed through EPS growth and =
ROE) has been less than stellar and forward growth is minimal, the =
stock's price/value tradeoff is poor. Given that there are other stocks =
in the same group with better tradeoffs, I would choose them over JDAS.

From what I can tell in due diligence, this company has some good things =
going for it, but I want more evidence that the recent reacceleration in =
earnings can be sustained. As the other evidence doesn't weigh in the =
company's favor, I tend to keep a stock like this in view, but favor =
other (better) stocks in the same industry group.=20

  Katherine,

By "JDAS doesn't pass all my required tests", do you mean EPS low at =
76 and Growth rate N/A, or is there more?

    Hi Novdust,

Good catch...nice breakout today. JDAS doesn't pass all my required =
tests, but they sure have a lot going from them. Makes sense that they =
are doing well, as retail has been shining of late and they're a pretty =
aggressive company appealing to software solutions for that market. =
Seems software in general has been strong lately. Also seeing some nice =
strength today in aero/defense, retail, techs related to consumer =
electronics, medicals, financials, IT services, non-CANSLIM groups like =
cyclicals (esp. oils) and (dare I mention it) gold. Even though the =
overall indexes look unchanged, the money is still flowing to certain =
parts of the market and the indexes as a whole are not succumbing to =
heavy distribution.

Anyone looking at JDAS. Looking pretty good breaking out of =
resistance,
only thing is the market is not looking to great right now. =
Volume today on
markets are lower but market coming back from highs. Any =
thoughts?
