I must respectively disagree. While if I had to choose, I would take =
random entries over random stops any day, I think it is more appropriate =
to put some effort into both. Most of use here fine tune our entry =
rather than "worrying" about it. Once you know what stock you want to =
buy, you find an entry point that makes the most given your risk =
tolerance and your take on the chart (or skip the chart if that's your =
preference). I personally can't tolerate losing 15% of my initial =
position, so I must limit my entry, otherwise my stop will be arbitrary =
and I will likely get stopped out. There is always another day and =
another stock. =20
I do agree that your purchase price has no bearing on success once you =
own the stock. Your stops and targets should have no relation to entry =
price. Nevertheless, it is prudent to fine tune your entry point before =
you buy. A stock could be up 20% on the breakout above any prior =
resistance, with the best fundamentals you've ever seen, but most people =
would pass because the entry would be too high. Your stop would likely =
be some number within the breakout range. In fact, a basic rule of =
Canslim is to buy at exactly the right point.

The question of entry points is mostly theoretical and bears little on =
the ultimate game. I find that those who spend a lot of time worrying =
about the proper entry points often miss out on a move.
An old Swiss gnome mentor of mine often said, "What you make or lose =
from a position has little or no bearing upon the purchase price. The =
real question should be . . . do you want to own the stock? And if so, =
buy it then set your stop loss or action points accordingly."
He started with $250 in 1928 and ended up with more money than 1/2 of =
1% of the world's population when he died in the late 1960's having been =
a stock market trader all his life.
And he never looked at a chart but could read the tape pretty =
effectively after doing his fundamental analyst work.

I see two potential entry points, depending on your ability to watch =
the market during the day, and your risk tolerance.
The first, and cheapest, was in the handle, or as today's price =
moved thru the pivot / high point of the handle.
The second would have come later today, or on Monday, based on =
today's action taking it above the left rim of the cup.

dfxi did run up to it' 52 wk high ($39.10), then retraced to close =

My question: where is the buy point on this?=20
