Thanks Howard, I think you're right as to the market getting to all of us.

How about a newbie question to distract us: how can I judge how much
institutional buying is going on? If funds, etc only report quarterly, how
do I know that volume changes are institutions rather than retail?

I've started tracking block trades (available on Merrill quotes) for stocks
I own or am considering. Block trades are defined here as "The number of
trades in the current trading session exceeding 10,000 shares or exceeding
$20,000 in value. When the market is closed, this number indicates the
number of block trades for the most recent trading session. "

Logitech (LOGI) had 2 block trades Wed. and another on Fri after none for
two weeks. Wed. it was up .77 on higher than average volume. Fri it gapped
down, closed down 2.76 on even higher volume and broke below its 50-day. [I
took 21% profit on most of the position earlier, so I'm not crying too much
over this, but am trying to figure out what block trades might tell me about
institutional buying and what to take from that.]

If I see 1 block trade, that doesn't really seem to tell me anything since I
have don't seem to have any way to know if it is a buy or sell. I can't
devine whether it is someone getting in or out.

Any thoughts?

- -- Mona

  Whoo,

Me thinks the 'M' has gotten to us all.

Opinions are opinions. Each of us has one or two. What I value in this
group is the diversity of them -- some of which I may not agree. On
balance, I learn from all who contribute. Those who have been a member for
a while realize that this groups real strength is in the diversity of
opinions presented.

Can we get back to being nice to one another?

  Howard
