I get pretty much the opposite, from my economic studies, Fred Tom Worley stkguru@bellsouth.net AIM: TexWorley - ----- Original Message ----- From: "Fred Richards" <adrich@gte.net> To: <canslim@lists.xmission.com> Sent: Sunday, April 28, 2002 10:17 PM Subject: RE: [CANSLIM] test - disregard Tom, For all of you optimists out there, there maybe another explanation. The market could very well go through the support levels and test the previous lows. Now the economists and certain Wall Street analysts are getting ready to move the recovery out to the first half of next year and even reduce the growth rate further. If the dollar continues its slide next week, and earnings continue to disappoint, and if gold moves up further it will be very hard to continue to support the P/E ratios currently existing, thus, almost guaranteeing a further sell-off and it could get ugly. The balance of payments is beginning to bleed at a high rate and the Mid East has not begun to cut back oil shipments in any meaningful way. Nevertheless, there are always some good stocks to find and make money on. The key is to be able to find them and know when to buy them and take any profit which you make. The old Wall Street adage, buy and hold, is a recipe for disaster. I do see the pessimism over just how long it may take to get this economy raging again, and have corporate earnings back to prior year levels, but I don't see the disappointment over current earnings. There also seems to be a bit of pessimism, that tends to be a good thing. The bad thing is that the market's sell off is pretty clearly due to disappointment with the current batch of earnings, I was hoping they would be strong enough to trigger some buying. S&P is sitting at support, I guess if it is going to turn up here it will first consolidate a little bit anyway.
