Hi Tom,
DGO includes the industry and Group RS in each Friday edition of the =
Printed Product Company Index Report. That's good for stocks included in =
the print edition, but still isn't a complete list. It's beyond me why =
they're charging for the industry info. They've added most of the DGO =
features to the free IBD charts. Sure seems the additional tools for =
which they're charging an EXTRA $500/year should be FREE.

if they simply put the industry group in the Index to the books =
report, at least you could get a partial list there.

Hi Rolf...
I used to use it heavily before I started using VectorVest in '98 =
(which allows you to drill down/up stock to industry). At the time, I =
had no other way to easily determine which stocks were in each industry. =
Even in DGO (until they added the new megabucks feature), they didn't =
have the ability to drill down. In fact, in the tips and hints file at =
the web site, they suggested setting up (manually, can you believe it?) =
stock lists for the components of each industry from the listings in the =
Group & Ticker book. Fine, but who wants to spend a month entering stock =
symbols by hand when DGO could easily supply this electronically? =
Oops.... off subject. :))
I find it particularly useful when looking at group action. In the =
IBD, the charts for various industries are rotated and new highs by =
sector are listed, but that doesn't tell you "the whole story." Knowing =
which stocks comprise the industry totals is extremely useful for both =
mining for candidates and monitoring industry action as a whole. My book =
is old, but the sections are as follows:
1-Industry Group List by Industry Group
2-Industry Group List by Company Name
3-Industry Group List by Ticker Symbol
4-Companies No Longer Traded Publicly
DGO is so paranoid about people reselling their precious lists, that =
they refuse to make this available in a simple Excel file. Are they =
nuts? Do they think they're the only people capable of grouping stocks =
into industries? Oops....there I go again!!

Subject: [CANSLIM] IBD's Industry Group and Ticker Symbol Index
Hello all -
Could anyone who has used this guide in the past
tell me if they
indeed found it useful? I'll likely wait for the
next issue due in June
in any case.
Thanks!
Rolf
