Marty, Charley, Dan, Norm,
I'll have to agree with Norm on this one...what works well for me would =
make someone else's eyes glaze over. I think the key point is to develop =
something that allows you to keep all your thoughts and notes in one =
place so that it allows for methodical tracking and mining of potential =
candidates. I like Excel because it gives me a lot of power for =
combining information from several sources through its macros and =
formula functions. Others here on the list use it for its VB coding =
features, etc. (Now *that* will make *my* eyes glaze over!). I still =
keep my journal by hand because there's something about the physical act =
of committing thoughts to paper that marks them indelibly in my mind. =
But when it comes to tracking large volumes of info, I like to use =
colors, codes, etc. and then quickly filter/sort for what I'm =
evaluating. That allows me to build meaningful analytical relationships =
in my mind. But that won't work for all folks because everybody =
processes info so differently. That said, however, I uploaded a skeleton =
Excel spreadsheet a month or so ago that allows you to start using Excel =
if you're so inclined. This one has links to the daily DGO reports for =
updating various info, links to free sites on the web for charts and =
CANSLIM checkups either with Mike Gibbons' tool and/or the IBD stock =
checkup. (Note: the first time you link to the IBD site, it will give =
you an error. Once you log into the IBD site, all the links work fine) =
Add columns of info that make sense to you such as due diligence notes, =
pivot points, base count, notations from the IBD screen of the day, =
whatever. You'll need a DGO subscription to automatically update the =
proprietary indicators. If you don't have one, you'll need to use =
another source or manually enter them. When I originally uploaded the =
spreadsheeet, someone told me there was no incremental benefit to the =
spreadsheet if you *have* a DGO subscription. Unless you intend to use =
the links to websites and/or build a central watchlist, that's true. =
Hey, it's free...if you find it useful, keep it--if you don't, no big =
deal, no money down the drain, toss it in the trash!!!
http://WallStreet-LLC.com/canslim/CANSLIMLinks+DGO.xls
Also note that there was not a particular rhyme or reason to the stocks =
I included on the spreadsheet at the time. Most are CANSLIM worthy, some =
are not, most are >=3D$10 and 90000 ADV, though there are also some =
microcaps on the list. You can add/delete the stocks that interest you. =
There are also instructions on building the links to the websites for =
any new stocks you add.

As much as I relish the thought of someone handing me a pat system =
like
Katherine's, I know I would benefit more by developing my own =
'chaotic'
system. It may not be as good as K's but I would/have learned so much =
more
along the path to finding my system. And, K has described her system =
so
well in her contributions to the list that maybe we should be able to
duplicate it already<BG>. My $0.02

That sounds like a great idea. I would be interested.

Katherine: Why don't you sell your stock organizer format to the =
public? I
would buy. Charley
