So, Katherine,

What's your take on the institutional domination of a lot of the better
looking stocks (at least for now). Could it be these are in the
limelight because it's the only place the institutions have been
venturing into?

Hi Tom,

I'm not surprised by the low management ownership, as it's common when a
stock is a spin-off. (This, from LTD in Aug '99). While I know you much
prefer companies still in the entrepreneurial stage with high mgmt
ownership, spin-offs have a history of doing very well in most cases.
Freedom from the mother-ship allows the new company to focus on their
specific product/marketing niche. TOO seems pretty savvy at attacking
the pre-teen girl niche. They have few competitors that serve the market
as comprehensively.

I don't remember exactly when, but TOO was added to the S&P Small Cap
600 recently. I remember at the time that there was a big runup in price
in anticipation. Once it was officially added, the price took a hike
South. The addition to the index may explain the fairly high
institutional ownership.

Katherine

PS...Darn...was hoping the weblink was gone for good!! :)) I really HATE
all those eyeballs....

Duke, I also note that IBD seems to be reinventing their own version of
CANSLIM. WON, in HTMMIS, talks about selecting stocks with at least 25%
earnings growth. The forecast for TOO, per DGO, is only 18% for present
year.

DGO does not show total institutional holdings, only funds and banks.
For
funds, they show 35%. With Management only holding a paltry 1%, then
funds
alone control this stock. And the big quarter is naturally the 4th,
ending
Jan '03, so you won't now into well into next year if they will even
make
that 18%.

Norm & Katherine, et al:

Yes, it is back.

And tooday's feature, TOO, doesn't look too bad either. But 78%
Institutional? Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but don't the reasons
you want low sponsorship include a) so you can get in before the
institutional folks who are responsible for 75% of the volume, etc, and
b) so you can avoid the huge gyrations those people can cause in a
stock?

I find it odd they feature these stocks in the Web link, but don't
venture here. Note in the Too analysis, they speak to the fact the high
volume, 1,100,000 AVD, means it's "institutional quality."

I'm beginning to think maybe WON isn't screening his own paper's
editorial that much. I'm also starting to believe a lot of what's
getting passed off in IBD is horse puckey! Or maybe I'm just getting
frustrated that the pickin's they're slim.

And it's back again. And still free. Must be magic!

Sorry Katherine.

I find it odd that this is available to the non-subscribing public
though. A departure from their "sell everything" philosophy.
