Chris, if you're just starting out, I don't recommend spending a dime =
until you can absorb and use all of the free tools that are out there:
a. www.investors.com - maybe I'm a slow learner but I still get a better =
understanding of investing each time I visit their Learning Center =
http://www.investors.com/learn/
b. the same can be said for their free Investors Corner Archives - =
http://www.investors.com/learn/IC.asp
c. http://moneycentral.msn.com/investor/research/welcome.asp - they have =
a great tool to screen for stocks =
http://moneycentral.msn.com/investor/finder/customstocks.asp
- --------------------------------------------
Financial Analysis - if you use a 'full service' broker you'll pay about =
2%/year. Their historical returns are 10-12% for equities.
A portfolio worth $100,000 will cost you $2,000 to be managed by a =
broker/year.
So your only question is "Will I have the discipline to 'better' the =
expected return of a broker... using the $2000 per year that I would =
have paid them?"=20
- ----------------------------------------------
I'll send you a list of favorite Books and Websites that was compiled in =
late December.
Gene

Katherine or anyone else,
In you opinion what percent of capital (money invested in market) =
can/should be used for products that will help us achieve our goals of =
investing in CANSLIM stocks.

Depending on your own style, you may also find =
HighGrowthStockInvesting, QuotesPlus, TC2000 or other technical products =
very useful. The best I can suggest is that you give them each a whirl =
and see which floats your boat (and doesn't break the budget!).
