Mike:

It all depends. Primarily, "money talks" and it's the size of your
account that pushes buttons. For instance, with HarrisDirect (formerly
CSFBDirect, formerly PCFN), they have three levels. The highest is
Select Client where you get all the research and real-time quotes and
personal service, like on the third ring you got a live person. (That
may not seem too important, but in an "emergency" it's another story
altogether.) Though the trades cost $20 each, you get a whole lot of
bang for the buck.

It's kind of like flying: You can go first cabin with all the caviar
you can munch; or you can go frequent flyer and ride in the back in a
non-reclining seat against the bulkhead just forward of the leaking
toilets, otherwise known as "limited availability seating"!

Question for the group:

Who do you use as your online broker? I use Ameritrade, but am thinking
of switching to Datek, since they offer free real time streaming quotes.
Right now I use 20 min delayed quotes in my quotetracker program because
I don't want to pay $/month for real time.
