Once you have made your decision to buy or sell. streaming quotes
enables you to determine which way the price is trending over the
past few minutes.  You can hold off your purchase a few minutes
until a move down appears to have stopped to try to pick a low
point.  I can usually save a few cents when buying or gain some
when selling that way.

With Datek, you get a tick by tick chart of the bid, ask, and
trades for the past 10 minutes which shows the immediate trend.
Also, you can see if more trades are going off at the bid or the
ask which helps to anticipate which way the price is headed for
the next few minutes.  If most trades are going off at the bid you
can probably get a fill at the bid rather than the ask.  If most
are going at the ask, the price will probably go up, so I'll hurry
to buy before the price moves higher.  Of course, this process is
reversed when I am ready to sell.  I don't day trade, but would
not want to be without this facility to optimize my entry and exit
points.
