Donald,
I didn't read the series of messages that you're referring to, but I can
better understand your attitude if you felt you were insulted by sarcasm.
In either case, it's still much preferable to type "LLUR" than
"Lower-Left-Upper-Right", especially when you are typing with two fingers
like I am!

thanks for the message John. There seems to be a one sided commentary going
on in this forum that is predicated on my having started something.. When
I initially posted on this forum I had the unfortunate experience of
mistaking the abbreviation LLUR for a stock symbol. When I looked it up the
value of LLUR I found that it had a value of $0.00 . So I made some remark
to the person who used this abbreviation that the stock had a flat base..
Whereupon, instead of thinking through the matter and realizing that I had
made an honest mistake due to not recognizing the abbreviation, the person
to whom I had made the remark about the flat base gave me a sarcastic
response and called me" Harvey" Unfortunately, I do not take insults
lightly., especially from egotistical types. And, that is how this all
began. In any event,. I have had a lot of experience trading information
with others. And one thing I learned a long time ago is that oftentimes when
exchanges of information become heated, the truth really comes out. Another
thing I learned is abbreviations require people to interpret the language in
a sentence and slow down the exchange of information. They are a lousy
thing to lay on people who are trying to learn as much as they can in the
shortest possible time period.

Donald,
I am not one of the main posters on this board, but I have been reading it
on a daily basis for quite a while. I can assure you that this board
consists of a healthy mix of novices and veterans and they (almost ;-)
always behave cordially and with respect for each other. This is by far the
most civil message board I've ever had the pleasure of coming across. And
those who act civil are rewarded with some great insight into CANSLIM
investing.
You, on the other hand, greet the board with threats and insults. You have
a chip on your shoulder. That's an unbiased opinion. What reaction do you
expect from your attitude?
What is wrong with using abbreviations for commonly used terms? Katherine
already posted what they mean. You are wrong, they are not intended to
impress. They *do* convey information. No one "owns" those abbreviations
and we all use them. Why would we tell a new member what the abbreviations
mean, if we were trying to impress them? Why not save that list for
reference (I did) and just read the board for a while before passing
judgment?

Contrary to your point of viewr, I do not believe you are in charge of this
forum or in a position to decide what I or anyone else should address in the
way of subject matter. Moreover the abbreviation IBD is obviously well
known to all involved with this forum. O(n the other hand, the rest of your
abbreviations are not. That being the case they do not convey information.
Accordingly, I believe they are intended to impress. Moreover, I'm not the
least bit surprised that you took my remarks to be an attack on youI. -

Donald,
Your post shows that you do not understand what this group is about, nor
what it has been about for the past six years. It exists to help people
learn, understand, practice and test their knowledge and interpretation of
CANSLIM. It is not a forum for IBD material, in fact a number of members
have posted on IBD stories pointing out where IBD appeared to be trying to
redefine CANSLIM, or were clearly diverging from the rules.
Along the way, specific stocks get mentioned and discussed. But this is not
a forum for trading / sharing stock picks, hot tips, or anything like that.
Just as you use the term IBD as a shorthand, so do I use terms like DGO,
HTMMIS, LLUR, C&H, B/O, DMA, etc. Not only are these standard terms used in
this group for years (as well as the investing community), but they are ones
that a CANSLIMer is most familiar with. And periodically, a list of terms
and abbreviations gets posted here, usually when someone with a civil tongue
asks for it. I could care less, frankly, if you think I am a "big shot", I
know I am just an investor like anyone else here. If you don't understand
the lingo, maybe you need to do some more studying, or just ask a little
more politely if we lost you in the dust of adult discussion.
We constantly have new members join this group. Some are total novices to
investing, some are well experienced investors just new to CANSLIM. Others
are experienced CANSLIM investors. They are all welcome, so long as they are
civil and adult and act maturely. If that is not what you are seeking, then
you need to find another group to visit.

I joined this CANSLIM thing with the thought in mind of sharing information
with a lot of people who are interested in investing in stocks and are
accustomed to checking out their possible picks on the basis of an analysis
of IBD input. I really want to hear from any of you out there who are of
the same persuasion. The people I don't want to hear from are the multudes
who speak in shorthand because they think by doing so they are showing the
world that they are big shots.. I don't know all the answers but I"d sure
like to trade information with whomsoever is on line that would like to do
the same., so we can exchange our information and find a good investment
based on facts instead of speculation.
