I believe there are some (several?) current or retired accounting
types in the group.

Can anyone recommend a good text book that would help in
understanding financial statements (income, balance sheets, etc.).
Somehow I feel like I have enough knowledge to be dangerous
and a bit of self schooling would be good.

A website or something like 'financial statements for dummies'
would be the right level.
