I use MarketGuide 4wk, 13wk, 26wk, and 52wk price change data that can be downloaded each data. My formula is: 0.1*4wk + 0.4*13wk + 0.25*26wk + 0.25*52wk A percentile is generated from the sorted list of these values. I use my own C++ program to do the number crunching but you could create the formula at your personal MarketGuide and only download that set of values. You can probably create the percentiles in Excel. If a formula does not exist within Excel you should be able to find it one the web. My numbers come very close to IBDs - but not a perfect match. I think they also use the 39wk price change in their formula and the set of stocks I use is going to be different from those IBD uses. I only use stocks over $5 each time I download the data. If you look at the data for a few months you will see some interesting things. For one, stocks that have bounced around between $10-20 can change RS very quickly. This taught me not to exclude lower RS stocks from my fundamental screens in this bear market as they could become a reasonable RS stock in a week or two.
