You ask, "When will they do well?" Assuming the majority of the
companies appeal to the future needs of boomers in retirement (or
approaching), I'd say we've got 20+ years of them in the pipeline right
now. Given a 20- to 30-year retirement, you're looking at 30 to 50
years out.
Take for example a manufacturer of artificial joints. Stryker
Corporation was featured in Friday's New America. The headline reads,
"Helping Baby Boomers Leap Into Middle Age." This isn't really a new
thought. Speaking again from personal experience, I was for some time a
member of a country club in St. Petersburg, Florida (where I could
economically live on the water and commute to Tampa). When I left five
years ago, I was one of a handful of club members with all my original
joints! 85 year-old's were getting new knees and hips...and back out on
the course within six weeks swinging away!!
My point specifically about the boomer stocks is clear as bell. These
companies have the opportunity to far outperform the stars of our recent
"irrational exuberance" over a long period of time. And their results
will be based on....hold on to your hats....real profits measured in
dollars, as opposed to dreamed up by shady analysts! Forget your
breakouts, failed or otherwise. I see a rash of LLUR's in the pipeline.
And to those who might say, "Many of the companies aren't new or
innovative," as in the spirit of "N", my response is simple: There are
going to be a zillion new twists on old concepts (like hospitals) that
will develop out of necessity based on what lies ahead. Oh yes, and
they all appeared in The New America!

I may have never said anything, but I agree with your concept:
There
are a lot of baby-boomers out there who (if they live so long) tend to
buy
while they live. So those companies which cater to them I believe, with
you,
will do well.
When will they do well? That is the question. Why did those not
on the
SOD do better than those on the SOD? My conclusion: One of two
reasons: 1)
Who knows or/and 2) Luck of the draw (it's the same reason why the
stocks of
some lousy companies that are losing money rise in price).
I'd bet that when the Market becomes a bull, though, those "Boomer"
stocks that are on the SOD (if their ratings are still good) will rage
in the
same direction as the bull.

I'm not hurt, I promise. I've never been known to run with the crowd,
more
often than not taking Frost's road less traveled.
However, dear friends, I have been doing some analysis on the list that
now contains 84 stocks, and I've discovered and interesting lack of
correlation. Interesting to me, at any rate. I'll explain: ... >>
