Hi Tom, For a free source where you can download 16 months of closing values on indexes, you can use Yahoo. For instance, here is the link for 16 months of daily closing data for the Russell 2000. http://table.finance.yahoo.com/d?a=5&b=3&c=2000&d=11&e=3&f=2002&g=d&s=^R UT At the top of the web page, you can modify the index symbol, start date and stop date for the information, and the closing price duration (i.e., daily, weekly, or monthly). At the bottom of the web page you can click the link that allows you to download the info to a spreadsheet. For your convenience, here's a list of fairly comprehensive list of tickers for the various indices: ^SPX S&P 500 ^RUT Russell 2000 ^NDX Nasdaq 100 ^OEX S&P 100 ^SML S&P 600 (Small Caps) ^MID S&P 400 (Mid Caps) ^RUI Russell 1000 ^RUA Russell 3000 ^VLE Value Line ^WLSH Wilshire 5000 ^NYA NYSE Composite ^COMPQ Nasdaq Composite ^DJA Dow Composite ^XAX AMEX Composite ^DJI Dow Industrial Average ^DJT Dow Transportation Average ^DJU Dow Utility Average ^INDU Dow Industrial ^TRAN Dow Transports ^UTIL Dow Utilities The link itself can also be modified as follows: a= the month (from 0 to 11) of the starting date b= the day of the month (1 to 31) of the starting date c= the starting year d= the month (from 0 to 11) of the end date e= the day of the month (1 to 31) of the end date f= the end year g= d for daily, w for weekly, m for monthly s= the index symbol (from the list above) Hope this helps. I am looking for an index that collectively includes each specific element, that is "small cap", "IT or at least technology", and "growth". I am also looking for a free source where I can download about 16 months of closing values on a number of indexes, including the Dow 30, Naz Comp, NYSE Comp, S&P 400 and 600, and Russell 2000. Daily or weekly (as of Friday) is fine.
