jans, I completely agree. New products, from new vendors, help make a well
managed existing company compete better. My complaint with DGO (and from
group members perceive the same attitude prevails with IBD) is that the
interest appears to be both to develop new products for existing
subscribers, while also charging very high prices for the same. At the same
time, there does not appear to be a perception of how things are changing
with the internet services available either for free, or much more
attractive fees.

My analogy would be Kodak, who persisted in producing better films while the
world converted to filmless digital cameras. By the time they realized that
digital cameras not only existed and were here to stay, both models and
vendors were so numerous as to produce a really nice camera at a price most
attractive to the majority of consumers, and Kodak was surprised to find
itself on the verge of obsolescence and bankruptcy.

While DGO gives me a sufficiency of data for me to make investment decisions
without a lot of time in research or due diligence, it is no longer the only
game in town. What Mike and Katherine are working on could easily progress
into an alternative, more responsive to subscriber needs and wants, and
better priced. As long as my time is so severely limited, I will likely
continue using DGO basic service for charting. But I will also continue
using other sites, most free on the net, for my screening, news, alerts,
live quotes, and a bunch of other services.

Tom:

Tom, you know I think a great deal of you-over the years you've
answered
a lot of my CANSLIM and stock mkt questions. This is not a slam on you-it
is
only my opinion.

Over the centuries the general state of nations has been
impoverishment.
And this was because (I believe) that neither capitalism nor the rule of
law
was permitted to flourish.

My point is that the heavens have not ordained that there will be new
products available. The reason they are made available is because
entrepreneurs are permitted to offer them at what they believe is a
competitive price. Thus, the entrepreneurs are willing to invest in their
introduction into the marketplace.

Mike and Katherine are now offering a similar service to Daily Graphs.
Does this mean the DGO has priced itself out of the market? We will see.
However, what we will not see is new products coming onto the market if
people other (for instance, the government) than the entrepreneurs are the
ones who define "fair".

In my opnion, it is fruitless to define "fair" (everyone's opinion will
differ). So let the marketplace decide if the price charged is "fair", and
let the entrepreneur (who does the risk taking by introducing the product)
initiate the definition of what is "fair" and what is not.
