Right now, as I see it, "M" is clearly saying to sit on your cash. This = is true with $5K or $500K. This is an extremely hard market to make = money in, especially on the long side. But it is a good market in which = you can paper trade. Generally it is best to have 5 or 6 or so stocks in a portfolio, in = order to have some diversification, and participate in several different = industry sectors. That's hard to do with limited funds, and requires = additional patience since Murphy's Law says that the one you passed up = in favor of the one you bought will be the one that rockets while your = purchase just sits there. Tempting to jump back out and chase the one = that already got away. In a large portfolio, you might have more stocks. The real question is = how much time you have to spend keeping up with your investments, and = the market in general. With 5K, it would be better to have 2 or 3 stocks, than to cast the = entire amount on a single stock. Important to use a broker than won't = kill you with commissions and fees / charges. =20 Good luck, - ----- Original Message -----=20 From: c bourgeois=20 To: CANSLIM=20 Sent: Tuesday, December 24, 2002 7:37 AM Subject: [CANSLIM] Intro : New List Member Hello Everyone, I am reading Bill O'Neals book for the second time and have just = become an IBD subscriber.
