Although I have been part of the group for almost two years, I still feel like a newcomer. There's so much to learn! Katherine M.,
a frequent and helpful contributor to the group, recommended the following book to me:
Stan Weinstein's Secrets of Profiting in Bull and Bear Markets
It's not CANSLIM specifically, but helped me to understand the rationale behind CANSLIM better. I still use CANSLIM for my buy and
sell rules, though.
I also recommend paper trading for awhile, though some say that you only REALLY learn by doing!

I am reading Bill O'Neals book for the second time and have just become an IBD subscriber. I'm very happy to have found the
CANSLIM list! I'm very new to investing (have not even made my first trade yet) but I am eager to get started. I only have about
5k to trade with. My question is should I be trading at all at this point? O'Neal advises to wait out a bear market (this is a
bear market isn't it?). If I do trade, how many stocks should I concentrate on and how much of my equity should I invest in it? I
plan to use the free stock screener at Multex to build a watch list meeting the CANSLIM criteria, then to research the fundamentals
on those and study their charts. Can anyone recommend a good book on reading charts? Thanks in advance for you help!
