Mike, You are of man of reason! It is my understanding that IBD is =
losing a lot of money each year. Some of you feel like you have been =
shafted by IBD. Maybe, they are fighting for their own survival. Very =
few investors trade the canslim method, and with this vicious bear =
market, there will now be fewer. Just like the postings of this website. =

Without getting into the controversy over the cost of eIBD, there =
seems to be a fundamental belief displayed here that I think is =
mistaken. That is that the cost to the consumer should bear some =
relationship to the cost of production and distribution. In fact there =
is no such relationship under our capitalist system. Consumers will be =
willing to pay whatever price matches the percieved utility of the =
service offered. In general, speed, convenience and uniqueness command a =
premium. The marketplace will be the judge.

Ann, I am SHOCKED!!! Never realized that electrons over the net cost =
more to produce than ink on printed paper, not to mention all the humans =
involved in the paper version. Silly me, I figured since the paper was =
already in electronic form, an electronic version would be considerably =
cheaper than a paper version.

And shame on IBD for blaming the carrier for stopping the home =
delivery service. I wonder if the delivery by electronic means will be =
discontinued as well if there aren't enough online subscribers for a =
particular area??

Tactically, this doesn't seem to be a good marketing ploy to retain =
existing subscribers.

I received notification today from ibd that my paper will no longer =
be delivered, that it will now come in the mail instead. When I called =
ibd to ask about the change, I was told that my carrier was no longer =
going to deliver ibd, and that I could have two weeks free trying eIBD, =
since I lost my delivery. The guy said that they were doing that for all =
their customers who lost delivery and were going to receive ibd by mail. =
When I asked whether ibd was doing this on purpose to increase eIBD =
customers, the guy laughed and said that my carrier was no longer =
delivering ibd.

But when I called my delivery service, they said that they received =
a letter from ibd recently stating that it was cost-prohibitive for ibd =
to pay to have so few papers delivered to one area, and that they were =
going to mail the paper instead.

So this seems to be part of another big business/marketing move on =
ibd's part.=20

IBD costs 219/year. eIBD costs 295/year. I was told that I could =
have eIBD for the same price as ibd, if I so choose, until my =
subscription runs out. I think I might like the e-version, if it were at =
the same price, but I certainly don't like being railroaded into the =
decision by ibd.

    Ann
