Katherine and all:
The actual decline today was the result of a downward revision in earnings. 
However, as you pointed out, the wedging and faulty handle warned of trouble 
ahead.
Since the chart is a historical representation of the action of buyers and 
sellers I conclude that some investors either knew or suspected trouble was 
ahead. By correctly reading the chart we are taking a peek at the opinions or 
feelings of other investors, probably the funds or other large institutions.
I find this fascinating.
