HI jans,
My only recollection of statistics on cups with high handles is that they
appear less frequently than cups with handles formed lower (though still in
the upper half of the base) but as to their success rate in comparison, I
really don't know.
I wouldn't necessarily conclude that patterns with high handles were
"stronger"...just that they didn't pause and refresh as *soon* as the more
"standard" handles did. Regardless, it's the shakeout in the handle on low
volume and a breakout above the pivot that shows the stock is ready to move
onward and upward. As long as the handle is above the midpoint and is sound
and the breakout is on volume, all the technical signals are in place that
indicate the stock is ready to break the resistance at the left side of the
cup.

Katherine:
I'm reading these Canslim E-mails sequentially, so you may have
already
answered (which, in that case, I'll read it soon); however, if you haven't
answered Mike's question, I would like to add a wrinkle to it:
I've noticed that some cups have hi Right Lips. Are there any statisitics
that reveal that these types of cups are stronger (they seem as
though-intuitively-they should be) than the normal cups which have higher
left lips than right lips.

the left lip, with a default value of 5%. I am still learning too, so
maybe one of the other gurus (Katherine, are you reading this?) will chime
in too. >>
