I love to people watch and had a great time watching hordes of folks stand in line and circle in cars a garish white building with several orange neon lights signaling the serving of hot doughnuts 'NOW". Had to share in your experience so we went inside to get a 'hot one'. The end of the line formed outside but within 5 minutes I was handed a hot doughnut in a paper wrapper. As we approached the counter I kept hearing 'magic moment' yelled out followed by cheering, whistling and clapping of hands. Soon it was my 'turn'... the counterman asked if this was my first visit... when I said yes, he yelled magic moment and the 10 or so employees started their cheering, etc. The place reminded me of a bad bar... packed with folks and very loud music (70's) and folks having to shout to be heard... the only difference was the lighting... KKD's was almost too bright and the white furnishings and walls seem to exaggerate their over-bright white look... the crowd there at 11.00 pm told me that the folks love it so I'm no judge of decor... Eating a hot doughnut was different but it will never replace an Oreo with a cold glass of milk! My question is what made this 66 year old company come back to life? Couldn't help looking around while we were outside.... on one corner was a new Central Market, another had a big Blockbusters and another Condoms to Go.... couldn't find a Starbuck's. - --0-327337216-1044196553=:84672 Content-Type: text/html; charset=us-ascii
Gene:
Starbucks is:
1. across the street from KK inside Tom Thumb, and,
2. an "outdoor" Starbucks is two blocks away.
Jer
Gene Ricci <genr@swbell.net> wrote:

Tom, I saw it with my own eyes.... a sugar oasis!

I love to people watch and had a great time watching hordes of folks stand in line and circle in cars a garish white building with several orange neon lights signaling the serving of hot doughnuts 'NOW".
