MessageInteresting. Isn't that in the neighbourhood of $360 for EVERY man, woman and child in the country - for just 1 month? And a run-rate of over $1,000,000,000,000 for the year? What IS the projection for th year? How does this look by historical measures? Doesn't this number make the recent tax cuts look miniscule in comparison? I suppose this is the reason for the collapse of the greenback this year - I find it intriguing that nobody in the financial media seems to care - a lot of complacency has set in over the dollar.

How will this affect the otherwise-exceptional CANSLIM banking/finance stocks? Will it have a profound positive (or negative) effect on any CANSLIM industries?

Ian

The U.S. Treasury announced an as-expected budget deficit of $90.5 billion in May. Year-to-date, the budget deficit stands at $292.1 billion vs. $145.4 billion in the year-ago period. Both individual and corporate tax receipts are sharply lower than a year ago, reflecting declining payrolls and soft business conditions. Government spending is high, especially for defense and Medicare.

Wonder how long it will take the foreign investors to panic? And when they do, will the market continue on its way up?
